Komodo Island

Komodo Island named from the famous lizard living on it is the biggest island of the Komodo National Park with 390 km2. Located at the western part of the park, Komodo is less visited than Rinca Island due to its location making it a bit wilder. With an estimated population of 1000 dragons living on the island, it is slightly less than Rinca. Wild pigs, water buffalos, Sumba deers, monkeys, wild horses and many snake species are present on the island.

Padar Island

Padar Island is a remote and wild island located in the middle of the straight between Rinca Island and Komodo Island. Defended by strong currents and swell coming from the nearby Indian ocean, going to Padar Island is an adventure in itself. We like to call it “Neverland” and will understand why once you will be there!

Kelor Island

Kelor is a small island located in front of the the beautiful hills of Flores. It is one of the must do in the Komodo National Park as the view from the top of the island is simply breathtaking. A short hike of 15 minutes will lead you to the top where a panoramic view on Flores, Rinca Island and many other small islands.

Rinca Island

Rinca is one of the 3 biggest islands of the Komodo National Park with Komodo Island and Padar Island. Located right next to Flores and separated only by a narrow straight, Rinca is stretching over 198 km2. Despite being smaller and less known than Komodo, Rinca has a bigger Komodo dragon population with more around 1300 individuals living on the island. Komodo dragons are not the only animal living on the island.

Kalong Island

Kalong Island is named after its majority of occupants which are “Kalong” or the bat. Located just near Rinca Island or 8 kilometers from Labuan Bajo, there are thousands of bats living on this small island. Since the whole island is covered with mangrove forest, this island can be adored from distant only.

Pink Beach

Pink Beach might be the most famous beach in the Komodo National Park even if Pink Beach is not the only pink colored beach in the park. Hello Flores team knows some others hidden from the crowd. Its name comes from its pink coloration given by the small broken pink parts of the coral reef next to the beach.

Taka Makassar

Makassar Reef or locally called Karang Makassar, also known as Manta Point, is a stretch of reef where mantas are to be found – either solitaire or in a group. Most of the waters are shallow enough to snorkel and see the mantas. But there are also areas deep enough to dive and linger quietly at the bottom of the sea observe the mantas.

Kanawa Island

Kanawa is one of the most famous island of the Komodo National Park. Located at the border of the park, Kanawa is known for its white sand beaches and coral reefs. Often described as paradise island, it is the perfect place to rest, relax and do snorkeling on the surrounding reef. Dolphin, stingrays, turtles and many starfishes are living in the reef nearby the island.
